Top 10 Best Universities in the Philippines (2015)

The wait is over. Here's a compilation of higher educational institutions all over the country that offer the best college education.

According to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), these universities "have demonstrated the highest degree or level of standard along the areas of instruction, research and extension".

This article adopts the “PhilStar ranking” published last year for this year’s update. The ranking is based on the number of centers of excellence (COE) and centers of development (COD) awarded by CHED: 1 COD = 1 point; while 1 COE = 2 points.

The COEs and CODs are higher education institutions with the highest degree or level of standards in the areas of instruction, research and extension. On this list, the university systems (such as the UP, MSU, and USEP systems) are treated on a campus-to-campus basis, separately, as per CHED’s format.

Take note, however, that the COEs and CODs do not reflect the overall performance of a university. The data reflected here are taken from the CHED records as of 20 August 2014. These designations remain valid until 31 May 2015.

    1. that's true. the criteria using COE and COD are not accurate as are not complete. as we all know, application for COE or COD is voluntary. for example, the up diliman school of business is known to be the best business school in phils. yet it does not believe and apply for COE nor COD. another example, the upd college of education is the best but it does want nor need to be called a COE nor COD. the same thing is true for the upd college of engineering.

  3. lol. It'll be more credible if you use the rates of courses with CoE over the total courses offered. Also, You should also need to take into consideration the rates of the students in the programs offered.

    1. Well that was last year. Your tone was like you were questioning if these institutions were really worth to their respective tops. Apparently, you're right. But I hope it was only a question. With nothing to implies. I really do.

    2. What's wrong with the question. I see that question valid and no need to be defensive.
